Welcome to VIRTWELD

Implementation of Virtual Technology in Education of Welders and Welding Specialists

The project aims to promote the use of virtual welding training tools in welder's training. The project started in November 2009 and will last until October 2011.
A major opportunity to assess the real impact and potential benefits of using virtual welding stations in diferent welding courses of partner countries, namely in terms of cost reductions and healthier working environment these systems provide, as well as the quality levels of welders trained in this fashion.
The VIRTWELD consortium is made up of three ANBs from the EWF network, CWS (CZ), EWF (PT), IZV (SI), VUZ (SK) as project coordinator.

10th July 2011

On June 26 & 27, a 5th VIRTWELD meeting was held in Bovice, Slovenia, hosted by Institut za Varilstvo.
In this meeting, it was possible to have present during the discussions a representative from Fronius, as well as the Fronius virtual training equipment, which allowed for very active discussions on the main aspects of this particular equipment.
In addition to the Fronius device, there were also present CS-WAVE and the Apolo Software, allowing for simultaneous testing and experimentation, with assessments as to the main aspects, positive as well as negative points. It was a very good opportunity to reinforce the importance of the equipments in the training of welders and to review the recommendations of the project towards a higher recognition of these technologies as valid training tools for welders' training.
